The Jefferson County (Birmingham, Alabama) courthouse renovations included a Video Arraignment System whereby the courtrooms are linked to a room in the jail via two-way audio and video eliminating the need to transport prisoners to the courtrooms for arraignments.

The project also included renovations to the County Commissioners' Chambers and Conference Room, including an extensive audio/video system for presentations and for video taping proceedings and editing these video tapes.

Working though T. A. Lewis and Associates, Gaston Nichols was the principal designer of the audio, video, and control systems for all of these systems.
